the blog link on ebay

I had to remove my blog link from ebay because someone from the art group had ALL their auctions ended because they had a link to their blog. (insert rolling eyes here). Sheesh.

I'm getting sick and my throat is KILLING me today. I finished a couple of things that I'm going to put up on ebay next week. They are both 18" by 12". The colours don't show up as vivid on the computer as they do in real life. The moon one REALLY pops with colour when you see it for real.

THANK YOU Bidders!!!!

Here is a picture of the famous studio/walkin closet. DH is not the happiest camper that I took over the walk-in closet for my studio BUT he was really glad to get the stuff out of the kicthen, in particular, the acrylic paint no longer getting splattered on his precious white dishes. Of course the artist in me thinks that the solution to that would have been to paint some dishes and have them fired so the acrylic splatters wouldn't show. The chef in him overruled that saying that you HAVE to present your food on white dishes. I want him to keep cooking so I gave in on the dishes and so he gave up the closet.

Thank you to everyone that is bidding on my stuff this week. It does wonders for me. I love the thrill of seeing people wanting my work. I'm such a shy person that it really gives me a big thrill.

I ran into one of my district managers from work today when I was at the post office mailing a painting. He asked me when I was coming back to work and telling me how busy they were without me. I jokingly told him that I wasn't coming back to work because I won the lottery and he laughed. Secretly I wanted to tell him that I wasn't coming back because I was going to make my living as an artist loving every breathing moment of what I was doing but I couldn't - not quite yet.

I also have a new ACEO listed on ebay and the photo is below.

trading cards for artists

I've started doing ACEO's and I'm giong to post some on ebay soon. They are 3.5" by 2/5" and they are meant to be stored like trading cards (for fellow canadians HOCKEY CARDS - not that there is any hockey these days).

Here is a preview of what to expect. So which should I list the red tree or the green tree????

As a side note, I sold a painting yesterday. It was for a modest sum but a sale none the less. It does wonders for the ego. Thank you Mike!

I am not Beige

I went shopping at the art store today. I'm totally inspired everytime I go in there. So many beautiful things, so many beautiful colours. Ah, I just love the visual orgie that it is. I crave colour and the play of colours together. I am not beige and never will be beige.

We're going to have the basement finished so the kids have a playpit and I will have a real laundryroom (wow what a concept!!!). The thought of painting 4 new rooms just has me exploding with ideas! Amazing isn't it, when most people would be totally overwhelmed with the notion of picking colours for 4 rooms and all would end up varying shades of beige. If you have a room that needs a colour, just ask, I'll pick one for you.

Please leave me comments if you've read my musings. I'd like to know someone out there has read this...

Todays painting "Apple Trees"... kids won't let me sell it though.

ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'm very tired today. The city turned up the bonging noise on the pedestrian crossing behind the house and all night I heard "BONG BONG BONG". Its like chinese water torture. I'm very sleepy.

New painting for today is only half done. That's what happened when your sleep deprived. I've decided that I LOVE the way that acrylic paint can be layered on watercolour paper. Its a look that you can't get on canvas. I hope my "fans" love the look too. Time will tell I suppose.

Trying to use the eBay photohosting to post this so who knows if it will work (apparently it does)

Also I put this one up on eBay yesterday. I LOVE it and my photography doesn't do it justice. I guess I'm a victim of my own print complaint. Its very hard to represent a painting in a photograph. Scanning works better but still not great. A lot is lost, but I digress....Its very three dimensional when you see it. I think its my favorite thing I've ever painted. Might just replace the tulips in the livingroom if someone purchase it. It will look fabulous in a thick black frame with a big white matt. Just YUMMY.

Ikea...

Ikea annoys me. More so their "art".

Why is it that someone is willing to pay $100 for a poor quality print of a Picasso and yet not willing to pay $40 for a real canvas from an unknown artist?

Real canvas paintings, even done by amateurs, still look more vibrant and alive than a lousy quality print behind a hunk of plastic glass. It annoys me every time I go in there and see people loading prints into their carts. Picasso is dead, he's not making the cash off your "art" purchase.

An even bigger beef I have are the ubiquitous posters of Monet that have Giverney and Monet printed across the bottom in HUGE ugly TYPE. Who are you kidding, its flat looking and TACKY. I love going into open houses and cruising real estate and almost every house I go into has that ubiquitous Monet poster.

Be original, spend the $40 on eBay living breathing unique art.

the stairs

I fell down my friends stairs today. I'm battered and bruised but otherwise ok. Felt incredibly stupid but I guess I shouldn't. I have some unblievable bruises on my right arm. I think by tomorrow my whole arm will be purple.

Finished this painting yesterday.

My closet

My studio is my walk in closet. Its puny but an utter oasis. I can shut myself in away from the kids and escape. DH says I've ruined the bathroom sink. Sok because I saw a new one I liked at the Home Show when I went. It was a very beautiful aqua molded glass that was just breath taking. It has a cherry stand that it sat on. The best part is that acrylic paint would be easy to clean off of glass was only $4000 or so dollars...Hmmm, how many $10 paintings would one have to sell to get a $4000 sink?????

Today's painting that came out of the closet....

viewings...

I have so few people viewing my art, I'm starting to think its ugly. Bad mind frame I know, but I have a migraine and my kids are acting as though they are possessed. Right now I'm seriously thinking of going to homedepot and buying a can of navy paint and painting my kitchen... Hey, painting is painting right? Oh, and maybe some subwy tiles for the backplash and an new fridge .... oh and a hottub... wouldn't that be a nice source of inspiration for my art???

This is my latest painting up for auction. I love it, its chunky and fun. Selling it would be fab. I must say, I'm getting better with my picture taking and my photo editing so I guess there is an upside....

Identity....

I need a new identity. I think I've come up with one. I spent all day making a logo for the eBay store out of photos of some of the paintings I've sold. Lots of fiddle work but I think I'm happy with it. Time will tell. All of the really successful eBay artists have a really strong identity and I think that that helps to set one apart from the crowd.

Now if only I can get my hits up....
